Last December, Congress passed a $1.7 trillion budget bill that included a piece of retirement savings legislation known as the SECURE Act 2.0. SECURE 2.0 is aimed at encouraging more workers to save for retirement, but also makes several key changes to the tax code that may impact your wealth management strategy. On Thursday, February 16th at 10:00 AM CT, Ryan Green, CFP®, AIF® and James Blake, CFP®, AIF® will discuss the major changes of the SECURE Act 2.0 and how they might affect you. Specifically, they will cover:

  • Updates to rules regarding Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) and how they are taxed
  • Rule changes for 401(k) enrollment and 401(k) withdrawals
  • Several new tax incentives created by the legislation
  • Roth rollover options for 529 Plans

JAMES BLAKE, CFP®, AIF®

James joined Brand Asset Management Group as an advisor in 2019. Prior to beginning his career as an advisor in the financial services industry in 2017, James spent 15 years in orthopedic medical device sales.

He was born and raised in St. Louis and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Santa Clara University. James has obtained the series 66. Additionally, He has earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and AIF® designation. Attainment of the AIF® designation demonstrates understanding of the Prudent Practices® and methodology.

James and his wife, Becky, are active members of their congregation at St. Paul’s Lutheran. They are also cheerful supporters of many local charities, including World Pediatric Project and African Vision of Hope.

Outside of work, James enjoys time with his wife and three kids, reading non-fiction, playing soccer, and volunteering.

RYAN GREEN, CFP®, AIF®

Investment Advisor

Ryan joined Brand Asset Management Group in November of 2007. As an advisor, he appreciates the real and tangible impact that comes from serving families through many seasons and over generations. Ryan demonstrated his commitment to the firm when he became a partner in February of 2022.

He earned his Bachelor of Human Environmental Sciences Degree in Personal Finance from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 2003. In 2005, he earned his MBA in Finance from the Crosby Graduate Program at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification in 2014. Ryan earned the AIF® designation in 2016. Attainment of the AIF designation demonstrates understanding of the Prudent Practices® and methodology.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys music, fishing and spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their three children.
