What a year, what a decade. Hard to believe the last ten years, with all of its “interesting” events, somehow turned out pretty spectacularly for most investors. As a frame of reference, here is our newsletter from the end of 2009:

It was a very different time, to be sure. It serves as a good reminder that the emotional elements of faith, discipline and endurance work alongside the technical elements of diversification, cost control, tax minimization, et cetera. Wisdom in both areas is key to long-term investing success.
For our team, success depends on relationship. We pursue it, treasure it and celebrate it. With good relationships, the emotional and technical aspects of our work become easier and more personally rewarding. So we want to thank you for the relationship you allow us to have with you and your families. Our hope is that it gets stronger and deeper with each year of our lives together.
We are excited about the 2020s and look forward to reflecting back on today in another ten years, but the real reward will be in living it daily with each of you.
